David Berry is from Balbriggan and initially graduated with a degree in Athletic Therapy & Training from Dublin City University. After this, he went on to complete an MSc. (pre-reg) in Physiotherapy in Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, where he received first class honours. He is dual-registered with the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy Ireland and currently holds a FIFA diploma in Football Medicine. Since graduating, he has been working in private practice.
As part of his training, he has worked with a broad spectrum of specialist populations, ranging from amputees to orthopaedic patients to those with long-term respiratory conditions. As a result of this, David believes in a personal approach to physiotherapy with a priority on what is important to each and every client to help deliver truly meaningful treatments.
These learning experiences helped shape David’s outlook on physiotherapy. He strongly believes that it is the role of a physiotherapist to give each client the tools to not only return to their pre-pain levels but to surpass that in order to prevent pain from reoccurring. This process remains true whether that involves wanting to get back onto the football pitch or being able to keep up with the grandkids.
David prioritises an evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, meaning he is well equipped to deal with injuries and conditions that affect muscles, bones, nerves, tendons and ligaments. He also specialises in joint taping, sports massage as well as treating vestibular disorders such as BPPV.
David has worked with a variety of sports teams in the past – from amateur to professional level – with a focus on elite academy football. David also has experience working with teams in gaelic football, American football, baseball and a host of individual athletes from various other disciplines.
David is APPI certified to instruct pilates classes, delivering one-to-one and group classes during his time in private practice. David takes an active interest in football, running and golf – however he is currently struggling to get his handicap below 16 so any tips are always welcome!
